Genetic diversity

The Icelandic Sheepdog is a small breed in which genetic diversity plays a big part to help integrate rare genetic lines into the current lines and thus creating a broader breeding base so that we can keep the breed healthy. Therefore it is important to lower the mean kinship of the whole population. So when considering breeding options I not only look at build and temperament but also at the Mean Kinship a dog has.

New Home

Placing puppies in their new home requires insight into the wishes of the new owners combined with my idea which puppy would fit best in which home to ensure success as much as possible.

    On May 22nd Salka fra Kerlingarfjöll and sired by Kersins Vaskúr gave birth to four females and one male. Here they are 1 week and 6 weeks old.

Three pups

  • 2018 VASKÚR x DÖGUNN - 8 pups

    Op 9 november 2018 is het derde nest van Vaskúr geboren! Kersins Vaskúr en Dögunn frá Fridarstödum hebben acht gezonde puppen gekregen, vier teven en vier reuen. Dögunn is van Carolien de Lauwere.

    On November 9th 2018 Vaskúr’s third litter was born! Kersins Vaskúr and Dögunn frá Fridarstödum had eight healthy puppies, four males and four females. Dögunn is owned by Carolien de Lauwere.

  • 2017 VASKÚR x KIVA - 6 pups

    Op 22 februari 2017 is het tweede nest van Vaskúr geboren! Kersins Vaskúr en McEremons Kiva hebben zes puppen gekregen, twee teefjes en vier reuen. McEremons is de hond van Manuela Dossinger in Duitsland.

    On February 22nd, 2017 the second litter of Vaskúr was born! Kersins Vaskúr and McEremons Kiva (Manuela Dossinger Germany) had six puppies, 4 males and 2 females.

  • 2017 VASKÚR x LUKKA - 7 pups

    Op 2 januari 2017 is het eerste nestje van Vaskúr geboren! Kersins Vaskúr en Halldóra (Lukka) frá Olafsfjördur hebben zeven puppen gekregen, waarvan twee kort na de geboorte overleden (meer info onder health). De vijf puppies doen het heel goed, drie teefjes en twee reuen.

    On January 2nd, 2017 the first litter of Vaskúr was born! Kersins Vaskúr and Halldóra (Lukka) frá Olafsfjördur had six puppies, unfortunately 2 puppies died (read more about health). The five puppies are doing really well, 3 females and two males.

    On February 21st, Rosa-Salka fra Kerlingarfjöll and sired by Fox Meadow Hjalmberi Lokasson gave birth to 1 female and 3 males. Pups from left to right: Fjalar, Hoppar, Hoppa and Heidar.
